Sabres fans, I have a few questions for you. What do you feel is / are the main reason(s) why your team was unable to be in top form and at the top of the Eastern Conference this season?
I feel the Sabres have had many chances this season to get into the final two slots of the playoff race, but just can't capitalize on them. As a Penguins fan, I do enjoy watching the Sabres play whenever they are on Yahoo! NHL broadcasts or on VS. The Sabres seem to have a good core of players, a good goalie and some young guns up front who can put the puck in the net. Do you think team chemistry is an issue?

Also, which of these current or former players would be a good Sabres jersey choice? Ryan Miller, Tim Connolly (both in the newer style jersey) or Lindy Ruff (throwback style jersey)?

Answer: Not to be making excuses, but mind you are star goalie was out in the most crucial part of the season, not to mention many other injuries including a broken jaw to Thomas Vanek who at the time was in the top 5 in scoring in the league. I think that again, we struggled defensively this season. We have a couple of decent defensemen in Jaroslav Spacek and Craig Rivet, a couple of mediocre ones in Henrik Tallinder and Toni Lydman, one who should have retired two years ago in Teppo Numminen, and scrubs including Andrej Sekera, Mike Weber, Chris Butler, and Nathan Paestch.
Our offense wasn't that great, but it was acceptable. In the end there were plenty of games we should have won that were decided by one goal, and we couldn't capitalize in overtime or the shootout either.
All in all, we lacked a team effort. We need a miracle to make the playoffs at this point (we need to win the rest of our games and we need Florida and the Rangers to lose the rest of theirs), but it's just not happening.

As for the jersey, I would select Miller out of those choices, but if I could pick any Sabres player, I'd go with Vanek.
