Question: How often are you supposed to sharpen your ice skates?
How often are you supposed to sharpen your ice skates?
Answer: Depending on how often you skate depends on how often you should sharpen them. Generally they say about 20 hours of skating before you get them sharpened, but you will learn to do it more or less depending on how you like your skates.

Question: what is the best way to break in my ice skates?
im getting a pair of ice skates and i would like to know the best and leat painful way to break in a pair of ice skates.
Answer: I broken in several pairs of skates including the dreaded SP-Teri. I feel the best way is to go to your lessons and session and not expected to get too much out of it. Wear your normal feet covering (for me this was either tights or knee-highs) and skate. Tie your laces in a knot between before your hooks (new laces have a tendency to unknown and this will help), then lace up the hooks loser than norma. I was told by my coach to never lace the top hook until they were broken in. Then do some extensive stroking with an emphasis on the knee bend. This will aid in breaking the skates in. Your feet will hurt and sometimes your ankles will bleed. If it gets really bad I would suggest bungo pads for your ankles. If you have an ice make do not take you skates off!! You can untie or loosen them but do not take them all the way off - it will be way too hard and painful to put back on. Good luck with breaking them in.
