Question: 1983-84 Edmonton Oilers? The greatest and most exciting?
Does anyone remember that edition? Here are my memories and highlights of this GREAT team.
Four guys (Gretzky, Coffey, Messier and Kurri) with 100+ Points. Anderson, the FIFTH leading scoring with 99 points had more points than any other player on 15 other teams!
In late November-December, they were on pace to score 500+ goals but failed, finishing with 446, still tops.
As a team they scored on 17.1% of their shots, one goal every 5.85 shots.
36 shorthanded goals. Nuff said.
21 team hat tricks. Nuff said.
How can the team with the most records not be considered the greatest ever? That 83-84 edition holds or shares so many records, it would be too long to fill the list here. Greatest ever, in my opinion.
Answer: I would have to agree, but if that team existed these days I think far less points would've been scored, goalies have changed drastically.... but Wayne is great.
