Question: Old time Blackhawks fans?
For 60 seasons the team was the Chicago Black Hawks, then, in 1986-87 they became the Blackhawks. Anyone know the reason?
Also, should Eric Nesterenko be the next to have his number retired?
Thank you.Answer: The original name of the team was supposed to be the Blackhawks: but apparently because of a typo the name was written as the Black Hawks on signs, press releases, team stationery, etc. In 1986 the team's owner Bill Wirtz finally decided that the team's name should conform to the original charter, so the two-word logo disappeared.
