Question: Which Detroit Red Wings jersey should I purchase?

I'm looking to purchase a new Detroit Red Wings Jersey. I have Darren McCarty's and Steve Yzerman's. I want to get a new one to represent the 'current' team. It has to be someone with staying power (on the team for a while) and someone decent. I have it narrowed down to these players:

Johan Franzen
Henrik Zetterberg
Pavel Datsyuk
Niklas Kronwall

I've even thought of going really old school and getting a vintage Gordie Howe or Ted Lindsay jersey.

So which one should I get?

Answer: not saying howe or lindsay arent worth getting, but its always nice to have someone that is on and will be on the team for a while, so i say go with Franzen or Zetterberg since they have those big contracts. but if you want to get an up and coming star with the wings i say get a Helm Jersey.

while i feel that they will do fine without him... i don't think it's fair to say he's JUST the mule... he IS the playoff scoring leader.

Answer: any good team plays around injuries. It wont effect them at all. Other guys will step up, thats why its a team game.

Question: HOW CAN THE DETROIT RED WINGS AFFORD SUCH GOOD PLAYERS?

With the salary cap and all how can detroit afford players as good as Zetterberg, datsyuk, rafalski, lidstrom, hossa, osgood, holmstrom and THE HOLE GOD DAMN TEAM!!

Answer: The Wings have a great owner, GM and scouting department, especially in Europe. They draft much of their talent and never a top ten pick or anything close to that. They are a model of how to run an NHL hockey franchise. They had success before the cap and after the cap. They are such a great place to play that the players will sign for less so that the team can keep them and stay competitive.

Yzerman spent his entire career in Detroit. He even played for less to remain a Wing and to help win a few Stanley Cups. Zetterberg has signed a reasonable contract to remain a long term Wing. Hossa could have got much more and a longer contract somewhere else but he wants to play for a winner and a good organization that takes proper care of it's players. I wouldn't want to be a goalie in Detroit. My Leafs with Gilmour ran poor Cheveldae out of town and the next victim was Essensa. Vernon and Osgoode, BC and AD were never appreciated. Hasek had his cup here, Joseph got the same that he would have had if he stayed a Leaf. The goalie position seems the area that Detroit will fill with a veteran free agent. With the odd trade deadline deal to strengthen the team down the stretch and in to the playoffs.

I used to hate the Wings when we were in the Norris division with them. The good old days of Probert and Clarke. But now that we rarely see them I have lots of respect for them.

so im a red wing fan (since i was 7), and they are really ticking me off this year. i mean, last night against the blues, they should have won that but no. i love jimmy howard in goal this year instead of osgood; who i hate. Pavel Datsyuk needs to wake up. (even though he scored last night finally) and we finally got Fanzen back. so maybe we might be back on track with him. any comments??? (specifically from wing fans, but if not its fine)

i am a huge wings fan too... since i was a little kid, and i too am upset....
Datsyuk is one of the only wings i have been happy with besides helmer
i think after the olympic break we will have a good and fairly healthy team (finger crossed about olympics)
remember we have been plagued with injuries all yeah and have not had a full line-up since some of the first games.
Hopefully we should be able to snatch like the 7th seed or 6th if lucky and can get a good run into the playoffs again
