Question: I have 2 HOCKEY QUESTION?

Ok first of all i have been a caps fan since 97(when i was 4). I have the same passion as hockey players up and coming, to the pros. I wanted to play hockey but no ice rink in northern arlington till 2 years ago with kettler. I have 2 questions

1. Why do people expect all hockey fan can skate casue im ok with roller blading but not ice skating. becasue kids from high school thought i could becasue i love hockey, how dumb is that

2. Since I cant skate and its too late for me to start hockey if i want to make pros which i want but its too late. So is there a good chance i can become a GM without ever playing hockey?

Answer: 1.) Yeah, it's a little ignorant. I love hockey, but I only play for fun with my friends, not in a league or anything. I mean, kids who like NASCAR don't suddenly drive race cars, right?

2.) As long as you're enthusiastic about the sport, and are very knowledgeable, there is no reason why you can't be in hockey management. I don't think it's too late to start hockey, but you'll have to work twice as hard as the other kids to get to their level. Hard work pays off :)

Question: tips for buying inline skates (rollerblades)?

I have a sudden urge to go rollerblading! Is this something people still do for fitness? I remember having so much fun doing this as a kid in the 90's.

I know some skate basics... like big wheels are faster, but small wheels are more maneuverable, and softer wheels are better for shock absorption (street skating). But if if I wanted to work on cardio and leg strength, would I want smaller or larger wheels?

Most of the women's skates look like ridiculous, cheap plastic things. I might have to shop in the boys section for some roller hockey skates or something.

Answer: Skating is not as popular as it was in it's fad stage in the 90's but it is still popular as exercise.

Generally, your old information is still correct but you will be very pleasantly surprised by how much skates have improved.

Don't consider hockey skates, unless you are going to play hockey. Their design is very specific to the needs of the sport instead of general skating. Same with aggressive, speed, figure, or freestyle skates.

Yes, many women's skates are decorated to look "feminine" which is bad if you don't like that look. However, they also have a boot shaped to fit more woman's feet better and to have notch in the back of the legs to give room for the muscle that is lower on women than men.
Consider looking at models that have both women's and men's sizes, they tend to look the same with small differences in color.

Larger wheels work your legs harder when you are accellerating or going up hills. They are also much nicer as you get to higher speeds that work you out more.
Back when you were skating before, 80mm wheels were the top size and racers used 5 of them. In the early 00's wheels went through a size explosion where 80mm became the minimum for good skates and racers are on 100mm and larger wheels (only 4 of them).
]Since you have skated before, 84mm wheels should be a piece of cake and I would recommend 90mm for anyone getting serious for fitness. (I am about to change my skates from 5x84mm to 4x90mm) 100mm wheels are too large for some people but 90's seem to be faster for any competent skater than the smaller wheels.

Another advantage of the skates with 90mm and larger wheels is that they will generally have fitness boots which are designed to fit snugger on the feet and have cuffs that are 1 to 2 inches shorter, which makes them more comfortable when skating farther or faster but not as demanding as the really short unpadded boots on racing skates. At that level, the women's skates are less frilly looking.

Question: If I'm a size 9 in women's, what size will I be in all of the brands of roller hockey skates?

Like Mission, Nike Bauer, CCM, Reebok, etc.

Answer: I'm going to assume you actually mean inline hockey skates based on the brands (roller hockey skates would refer to roller skates, i.e. quads where there are 4-wheels, two parallel at the front and two parallel at the back).

Women's Hockey Skates (Men's Size Conversions)

Bauer: 2 1/2 sizes smaller than women's shoe size: eg.size 8 men's skate => size 10.5 woman's shoe
CCM:3 sizes smaller than women's shoe size: 8 skate => 11 shoe
Mission:1 1/2 sizes smaller than women's shoe size8=>9.5
Nike:2 sizes smaller than women's shoe size8=>10

Edit: I deleted the sizing for Tour. The chart isn't consistent. It says -3.5, but then says 8=>9.5

Question: Are Mission Space and Rockin Roller Coaster at Walt Disney World Florida really intense? ?

I'm going to Disney for the 3rd time and I've never been on Mission Space (Epcot) or on Rockin Roller Coaster (MGM). I really want to try them out but I'm not sure if they'd make me sick. I like wild rides but not to wild. Thx!

Answer: MISSION: SPACE has two different options for riding. It is the first amusement park ride to actually have barf bags on the ride, and accessible during the ride. There is an "intense" and "less intense" version. The "less intense" version experiences much of the same sensations, but not to the same effect.

I recommend trying the "less intense" version first. My husband love the "intense" version, but my mom came out green. My sister and I skipped it all together. The "less intense" version was not available back in '03 when we all went. Last year in '07 my hubby went on the "intense" version and loved it, again. I sat alone outside and people watched.

ROCK'N ROLLERCOASTER is the fastest rollercoaster in Disney World and packs two loops and a corkscrew. It reaches 60mph in about 3 seconds.

I skip Rollercoasters but my husband loves them so he will ride, and I will stick both of our tickets in the FastPass machine. He is able to get off, jump right back on, ride and do it all over again.
